Efforts to establish an ASEAN free trade area continue, but what does this mean for the industry?

The ongoing implementation of an ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (AFTA) has gone some way to liberalising trade within Asia by successfully reducing tariffs in the region.

However, significant non-tariff trade barriers remain in force which will limit the impact of the initiative on pharmaceutical pricing and reimbursement, manufacturing and trading strategy in Asia.
